The standard seal has a normal average lifespan of 5-10 years - depending on the load (water quality), this standard seal may wear out much sooner, sometimes within a few weeks.

The new special seal has a significantly higher average lifespan. Especially, the special seal, due to its (patented) material composition/processing, does not have the aforementioned variance in lifespan. For low-pressure valves (e.g., incubators with water canisters), the special seal should definitely be used because it makes adjusting the float valve significantly easier (less sensitive).

Recommendation: with every 2nd seal replacement, the complete plunger set should be replaced.
