General Safety Instructions:
Before use, read and follow all product information and instructions provided during purchase. Avoid unnecessary contact with the product. Misuse can cause health damage. Keep out of reach of children. Keep away from food, drinks, and animal feed. Place bait stations out of reach of children, birds, pets, livestock, and non-target organisms. The biocidal product is hazardous to wildlife. Do not use the product as a permanent bait (e.g., for prevention or monitoring rodent activity).
Preparation:
-
Non-chemical control methods: Before using rodenticides, consider non-chemical methods like traps. Traps are preferred for mice, voles, and isolated rats. Use biocides as a last resort and minimize their usage.
-
Identify rodent activity: Determine rodent nesting, feeding, and movement areas inside and around buildings by inspecting for gnaw marks, droppings, or using small amounts of non-toxic bait (e.g., oats). Remove the non-toxic bait before starting the actual control process.
-
Minimize disturbances: Avoid cleaning up infestation sites initially, as this may disturb rodents and reduce bait acceptance unless the situation demands cleaning. Remove accessible food sources for rodents.
-
Inform users: Notify all occupants and people in the vicinity of the baited area about the poisoning risk to humans and animals, as well as measures to address poisoning, spillage, or dead rodents (see additional packaging instructions).
Implementation and Accompanying Measures:
- Restricted use: Use the biocidal product only in and around buildings. Do not apply it in gardens or areas far from buildings.
- Use secure bait stations: Always use tamper-resistant bait stations to deploy the bait. Secure baits within stations to prevent rodents from scattering them. Applying bait without stations poses a high poisoning risk to humans, pets, and wildlife.
- Placement: Position bait stations near rodent pathways, nests, feeding areas, holes, or burrows. Do not apply bait directly into soil or burrows. Secure bait stations to floors or structures when possible.
- Avoid contamination: Keep bait stations away from food, drinks, animal feed, kitchenware, and food preparation areas. Do not place stations near drainage systems where water contact is possible.
- Hygiene precautions: Do not eat, drink, or smoke while using the product. Wash hands and exposed skin immediately after use.
Monitoring:
- Frequency: Check bait stations after 2–3 days initially, then weekly. Replace consumed bait and inspect the area for dead rodents to prevent secondary poisoning of pets and wildlife.
- Disposal of dead rodents: Place dead rodents in plastic bags and dispose of them via household waste or animal disposal facilities. Avoid direct contact with carcasses.
- Ineffectiveness: If bait consumption persists without reduced rodent activity after one month, consult a professional pest controller. Report product inefficacy to the registration holder.
Conclusion of Control Measures:
End the control process when no more bait is consumed. Remove all bait and dead rodents. Wear appropriate gloves and avoid skin contact with bait residues. Dispose of bait according to waste disposal guidelines. Intact bait stations may be reused.
Post-Control and Prevention:
- Prevent reinfestation: After successful control, remove food and water sources (e.g., food, feed, compost, garbage) or make them inaccessible to rodents. Eliminate potential shelters like debris, trash, and clutter. Remove vegetation near buildings and seal entry points (e.g., cracks, holes, pet doors, drains) to prevent rodent access.
Storage:
Store the product in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, protected from light, away from food and feed, and out of reach of children and pets. Keep in the original packaging.
Waste Disposal:
- Unused bait: Collect unused bait after the control process and dispose of it per local regulations.
- Protective measures: Avoid skin contact with bait residues; wearing gloves is recommended. Do not dispose of product residues in household waste. Deliver the product in its original packaging to hazardous waste collection points.
- Environmental protection: Do not allow the product or its residues to contaminate water bodies. Do not reuse the packaging.
First Aid Measures:
This product contains an anticoagulant active ingredient that acts with a delayed effect (4–10 days after ingestion). Symptoms may include nosebleeds, gum bleeding, bruising, or blood in stools/urine.
- Skin contact: Wash with water, then with soap and water.
- Eye contact: Rinse thoroughly with water for at least 10 minutes.
- Ingestion: Rinse the mouth thoroughly. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice immediately, showing the packaging or label. If a pet ingests the product, consult a veterinarian.
Bait station labeling: "Do not move or open," "Contains a rodenticide (rat/mouse poison)," product name, "Coumatetralyl 27 mg/kg," and "Call poison control in case of an incident."
