Protect Home Rodicum Rat Grain Bait is ideal for use against rat infestations in and around the house, suitable for use in tamper-resistant bait stations. The attractive bait ensures quick bait acceptance and reliable effectiveness. The ready-to-use rat bait contains the active ingredient coumatetralyl, a so-called anticoagulant (blood clotting inhibitor). The rodents consume the bait along with their food over several days (providing bait) and die after a few days due to internal bleeding. The time between bait consumption and treatment success depends on the amount of bait consumed, which helps build trust with the rodents during bait uptake.
Application: Use 200g (equivalent to 20 packets) per baiting point. If more than one baiting point is required, place bait stations at a distance of 5-20m apart. Do not open or remove the paper packets around each portion. Only use concealed bait stations that are tamper-resistant and secure. Do not clean bait stations between applications. Place bait stations in areas protected from flooding and severe weather conditions. Replace any bait in stations that has been damaged by water or contaminated with dirt. Rodents can transmit diseases, so do not touch dead rodents with bare hands.

General Safety Guidelines:
Read and follow all product information and instructions provided during purchase before use. Avoid unnecessary contact with the product. Misuse may lead to health hazards. Keep out of reach of children. Store away from food, drinks, and animal feed. Place bait stations where they are inaccessible to children, birds, pets, livestock, and other non-target animals. This product is hazardous to wildlife. It contains a bittering agent and a dye to prevent accidental ingestion by non-target animals. Do not use the product as a permanent bait (e.g., for prevention or detection of rodent activity).
Preparation:
- Non-Chemical Methods: Before using rodenticides, consider non-chemical methods like traps, especially for mice, voles, and isolated rat issues. Use biocides only as a last resort and minimize their application.
- Identifying Infestation Areas: Determine preferred rodent locations (runways, nests, feeding spots) based on gnaw marks, droppings, or by placing non-toxic bait like oats. Remove leftover non-toxic bait before treatment begins.
- Avoid Disturbance: Avoid cleaning up infested areas before treatment, as this may disturb rodents and reduce bait acceptance. Only clean if absolutely necessary for safety. Eliminate accessible food sources like spilled grains or food waste.
- Inform Users: Notify all individuals using the premises about the risk of poisoning and the measures to take in case of poisoning, spillage, or finding dead rodents (refer to packaging for further details).
Execution and Accompanying Measures:
- Use the biocide only in and around buildings, not in gardens or away from buildings.
- Deploy bait using tamper-proof bait stations (e.g., Protect Home Rat Bait Box). If possible, secure bait within stations to prevent rodents from carrying it away.
- Place bait stations near rodent runways, nests, feeding spots, holes, or burrows. Secure bait stations to the ground or other structures if feasible.
- Avoid contact of bait stations or the product with food, drink, animal feed, utensils, or preparation surfaces.
- Do not place bait stations near drainage systems where they might contact water.
- Do not eat, drink, or smoke while using the product. Wash hands and skin areas exposed to the product immediately after use.
Monitoring:
- Inspect bait stations after 5-7 days of placement and weekly thereafter. Replace consumed bait and search for dead rodents to prevent secondary poisoning of pets or wildlife. Dispose of dead rodents in sealed plastic bags via household waste or animal carcass disposal services.
- Avoid direct contact with dead rodents. If bait consumption persists for over 35 days without reducing rodent activity, consult a professional pest controller and inform the product's manufacturer if ineffective.
Ending the Treatment:
- End treatment once bait is no longer consumed. Remove all bait, stations, and dead rodents from the area.
- Wear protective gloves and avoid skin contact when handling leftover bait. Dispose of bait per the “Waste Disposal” instructions. Intact bait stations may be reused.
Storage:
Store the product in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, protected from light, and separate from food and feed. Keep in original packaging, inaccessible to children, birds, pets, and livestock.
Waste Disposal:
- Collect unused bait after treatment and dispose of it per regional regulations.
- Avoid skin contact during disposal; wear gloves.
- Do not discard product residues with household waste; deliver them in the original packaging to hazardous waste collection points.
- Prevent the product and its residues from entering waterways.
- Dispose of empty packaging through recycling. Do not reuse packaging.
First Aid Measures:
This product contains an anticoagulant that affects blood clotting, with symptoms appearing 4 to 10 days after ingestion. Symptoms may include nosebleeds, gum bleeding, bruising, or blood in urine/stool.
- Skin Contact: Rinse immediately with water, followed by soap and water.
- Eye Contact: Rinse thoroughly with water for at least 10 minutes.
- If Swallowed: Rinse mouth thoroughly. Do not give anything to unconscious individuals. Do not induce vomiting. Seek immediate medical advice and present packaging or label. If a pet ingests the bait, consult a veterinarian.
